Discussion of the topic with the actor to follow the performance:
Rock Creek Mansion
5417 W. Cedar Lane
Bethesda, Maryland 20814
Please plan to arrive by 7 p.m. sharp!
The NAPO-WDC organizers are very organized, and they cordially request all "guests" to arrive by 7 p.m. sharp.
The
play begins at 7:15; however, these organized organizers want no disruption
to the preliminary proceedings, beginning at 7 p.m. promptly.
After the play is a 30 minute discussion of the topic, which should be very interesting!
Then there is 15 minutes more of organized
organizers' business, and they again do not want this to be disrupted by
"guests," so you are therefore asked to remain seated until 8:30 p.m., when
the formal portion of the meeting breaks up into networking.
Thank you for your understanding and support!NAPO-WDC state: "Meetings begin at 6:30 pm with registration, networking and an “Ask the Expert” session, an informal gathering of new organizers who receive free advice on owning an organizing business from members of the Golden Circle, a prestigious designation within NAPO for experienced organizers. The performance, an educational program, begins at 7:00 p.m. and focuses on organizing practices and topics, with audience and actor/creator Discussion of the topic to follow. Fighting in the open on behalf of people living with this largely closeted issue also opens up conversation about more mental health, across the spectrum.
The American Psychiatric Association in 2013 defined "Hoarding Disorder" (DSM-5)." Terms like "HD," "Collecting Behaviors," or "Finders Keepers," carry less stigmatizing, so make it easier for people to talk about what the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments in 2006 called, "Hoarding: A Dangerous Secret."
"Chronic disorganization," for people who live with significant clutter, may put their physical, financial and mental health at risk and strain personal relationships.
Ongoing advocacy rallies to get support services for residents. Training is available, and care providers and peers with lived experience in the District deserve to receive the available training and get help to address this potentially serious health issue. This community round table discussion starts opening up this important conversation.
The presenter returns from recently attending the 18th Annual Conference on Hoarding and Cluttering in San Fransisco, where she presented the Opening Keynote, "DisordR, The Play," the original, solo show, performed live on stage, and in July, 2018, attended the 6th Annual Hoarding Meeting (part of the International OCD Foundation's 25th Annual Conference) and the Pre-Conference Hoarding trainings.
